Every trip, like a disease, has a beginning – suddenly and without a warning!
All of the planning, which is not much to be honest, came to be a reality in a period of couple of months but the decision to do this particular Lazy Road Trip Central America came to mind around a year ago.
The main goal was to spend the Christmas holidays somewhere warm, in swimsuits, with sand in our hair. The plan was to travel for 2-3 weeks. But this felt too short to enjoy the trip and visit all of the places we wanted to.
Then, an idea came to our minds, why instead of 2-3 weeks spend 2-3 months there? It was quite difficult! But not impossible 🙂
For months we saved money and gathered information. Tsveti worked over-hours in order to be away from work for so long. Me, I took the important decision to quit my job. The problems I had there made the decision really easy. The “reward”, to travel for couple of months felt deserved.
After the “technical part” was done and we knew that we’ll have 3 months to be lazy on different beaches and enjoy the tropical climate, came the real planning.
Tsveti as renowned traveler was in charge of buying tickets, preparing and deciding on a route, reading travel blogs and guides. Me, on the other side, I started practicing my rusty Spanish and buying all sort of things we’ll need during the trip.
In couple of months we already had all necessary vaccinations, we got new credit cards, got travel insurance, bought rain jackets, pants, sandals, Central America travel guide, new backpack, water bottle with a filter, money belt, Viktorinox, headlight, mosquito repellent with DEET, moon cups and also really cool beach towels. (some day we’ll sit and write down more in depth about all of those, we’ll put some nice pictures, we’ll write some nice reviews, we’ll …. Some day but not today)
Somehow with all of the organization the moment to leave suddenly came and it was time to take one short and one 10h flight.
